Weed Dept

Programs & Fees

The purpose of the Uintah County Weed Department is to manage the control of existing noxious and invasive weeds and prevent the introduction of new noxious weeds into Uintah County. It is the responsibility of each citizen in the County to control noxious weeds on their property. For citizens of the County who do not have access to weed control equipment the Weed Department may assist citizens in identifying and controlling their noxious weeds at a subsidised rate. The Weed Department reserves the right to deny services in areas that may be injurious or hazardous to employees or County equipment.

Noxious Weed Control Programs

  • Uintah County Weed Department may contract with private landowners, businesses, and government agencies to control designated State and County Noxious Weeds on noncrop lands only. Click here to see the current Uintah County Weed Control Rules & Regulations (new in 2011). The Weed Department is generally available from May through October to assist with weed control.

  • To avoid competition with private industry, the Uintah County Weed Department does not contract with private citizens to control non-noxious weeds. Non-noxious weeds may be controlled only when done in the process of controlling noxious weeds.

  • As a general rule the Weed Department does not spray bare ground herbicides, such as Roundup, Krovar, or Diuron, for private entities.

  • The Weed Department does not have, nor do they offer, equipment to cut noxious trees or other vegetation.

The Uintah County Weed Department offers several cost-share programs that may affect the final cost of services available to the citizens of the County.
